THE CHAPEL

St Joseph’s Chapel is located in the old village. Some wedding’s registers establish with certainty that this chapel existed in the 18th century, at that time, it was low based and downfall.
It has been rebuilt at the beginning of the 19th century thanks to Grand-Village glizen’s material and financial contributions. Citizens who actively participated to is rebuilding. In 1887, the priest Jean Alexandre Vincent, noted that the chapel was failling down. The roof was collapsing because of the gutter’sweight and because of the stones weight that children stored up when they took the chapel bell as the target.
It as been once again rebuilt in 1990, our local artist, Mr Ellie Murat, decorated the chapel’s inside with fresces refering to villager’s daily lives.
